Packet 8 Grew Customer Base 66% Last Year

It appears 8x8's Packet 8 hosted VoIP service for businesses gained about 4,000 net customers last year. In December 2007 the company reported having 10,000 customers. In December 2006 it had about 6,000.

And yet 8x8 still isn't profitable. Instead of using energy to snag 12,000 consumer lines from a dying VoIP provider, it should be focused on increasing Business customers. However, it is likely that the acquisition cost for business customers is more than the $129 it pays for consumers.
