The Data Shows Why Fixed Network Cost Control is So Important

There is a good reason why connectivity providers in the retail fixed networks business are focused on cost control: it has become harder to sustain the business case. 


As this data from Ericsson shows, consumers globally have switched to use of mobile networks and devices for voice, messaging and internet access. The retail fixed networks business now relies on internet access, but growth is quite measured. Mobile discrete users outnumber fixed users by a better than 5:1 margin and mobile subscriptions outnumber fixed subscriptions by about 6:1.
