Engaging in Conversation Doesn't Grow Reach

The problem with much advice given about social media is that observers do not yet agree about what works, and what doesn't. Some research suggests that "engaging in the conversation" does not increase your reach in social media.

Nor, some argue, do "likes" and "comments" on a Facebook wall lead to more impressions. Nor do Twitter followers necessarily translate into more conversations.
