If you are old enough to remember what long distance was like in the mid-1970s, or if you are interested in the history of communications in the United States since then, you'll want to watch this PBS documentary, I'd guess. It's a good reminder of on-going changes in the communications business, as well as a reminder of just how much has changed.

Gary Kim has been a digital infra analyst and journalist for more than 30 years, covering the business impact of technology, pre- and post-internet. He sees a similar evolution coming with AI. General-purpose technologies do not come along very often, but when they do, they change life, economies and industries.
