A Short History Of Social Media


Social media grew out of more-primitive applications of the 1970s and 80s, as this infographic from law firm Morrison &  Foerster suggests.

It starts with the dial-up bulletin boards in February 1978, through to Geocities, Blogger, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and many others.

tools because social media is one more component that can lure a viewer to
a Web site and keep that viewer there longer, said Kevin Cohen, senior VP
